Kai, your AI X (Twitter) agent

Posting on X every week is easy to plan and hard to keep up. Kai is Toby’s AI Twitter agent: he writes posts and threads with a clear hook, real numbers and your founder voice, turns your best articles into threads, and publishes them on X through the API once you approve. He works from your Brand Brain, so a post about your product sounds like you, not like a generic growth account.

X threadExample

A blog post recycled into a thread

Source: Lumio blog post “How to get paid on time as a freelancer” 1/ Most late payments aren’t bad clients. They’re forgotten invoices. We looked at how freelancers chase payments. Here’s what actually shortens the wait: 2/ Send the invoice the day the work ends. Every day of delay on your side adds to theirs. 3/ Put the payment terms in the first line, not the footer. “Due in 14 days” gets read. Page 2 doesn’t. 4/ Add a payment link. One click beats waiting for a check. 5/ Remind at day 3 and day 10 after the due date. Polite, short, automatic. No one feels chased by a reminder they expected. 6/ Full guide, with the reminder templates we use: [link to the article]
Example for Lumio, Toby’s fictional demo invoicing app. Each post stays under 280 characters.

Three hooks for the same announcement

Product update: recurring invoices A) “You shouldn’t have to remember to bill your retainer clients. As of today, Lumio does it for you.” B) “The most-requested feature of the year took 6 weeks to build. Recurring invoices are live. Here’s why it took that long:” C) “Freelancers on a retainer send the same invoice 12 times a year. We just made that zero.” Kai’s note: B opens a thread about the build (honest, founder voice). A is the safest for a single post. C works if you add a 10-second screen recording.
Example for a fictional company. The 6 weeks is the kind of fact Kai would ask you for, not invent.
Weekly planExample

A week on X, planned

Example week for a solo founder Monday: one lesson from a customer call (from meeting notes in memory). Tuesday: thread recycled from last week’s best article. Wednesday: reply-worthy question to your niche (“What’s the one tool you’d keep if you had to drop the rest?”). Thursday: build-in-public post with one real metric from your dashboard. Friday: short take on a news item in your field, with your angle. All five are drafts in Content. Approve, then publish now or schedule them in the Calendar.
Illustrative plan. Topics come from your Brand Brain and Toby’s memory.

The playbooks

  1. 1

    Recycle a winner

Turn the best blog post or LinkedIn post of the week into a native thread instead of writing from scratch. Ideas that win once tend to win again in another format.

  2. 2

    Hook first

The first line decides whether anyone reads the second. Kai often proposes two or three hooks for the same post so you pick the one that sounds most like you.

  3. 3

    One idea, concrete numbers

One post, one idea. Numbers, names of tools, a before and after. Adjectives and vague claims get cut, and hashtags are used sparingly or not at all.

  4. 4

    Founder voice

First person, real decisions, real mistakes. Kai draws on the Brand Brain, your connected data and the customer quotes your meeting notetaker brings into memory, so posts come from your business, not from templates.

How approval works

  • By default every post and thread is a draft. Nothing reaches X until you approve it and click “Publish now” or schedule it.

  • Approved threads are published in order, each post as a reply to the previous one, so the thread stays together.

  • Autopilot needs two switches: Kai on Autopilot and the company on Autopilot. Only then can he post on X without asking, within your daily AI cost cap. The Pause button stops it instantly.

  • Without X keys, posts stay drafts: copy them, post them yourself, then click “Mark as published”.

Security and trust

Tools Kai works with

X connects with your own developer app keys (Read and Write permission), with no app review needed for your own account. The X API is billed by X per use. Posts are text only today, up to 280 characters each.

Frequently asked questions

Can Kai post on X automatically?

Only if you choose so. By default he asks before publishing. If you put both Kai and the company on Autopilot, posting on X is one of the few actions allowed to run alone, alongside drafts in your CMS or Gmail. Ads and anything that spends money are never automatic.

Do I need to pay for the X API?

Yes. X charges for API access per use, and Toby uses your own developer app, so the usage is billed by X to you. You create the app on X’s developer site, give it Read and Write permission and paste the four keys into Toby. Check X’s current pricing before you start.

Will the posts sound like a bot?

Kai writes from your Brand Brain’s brand voice and from Toby’s memory, which keeps your edits and stated preferences, so drafts get closer to your style over time. Still, read before approving: an AI can be wrong or flat, and you know your voice better than any model.

Can Kai reply to my mentions or grow my followers?

He does not read your mentions or timeline today: the connector publishes and checks the connected account. You can paste any post and get a reply draft. Kai does not buy followers, run follow/unfollow tactics or automate likes; growth comes from posts worth reading.

Can Kai post images or videos on X?

Not through the API today: publishing covers text posts and threads. If a post needs an image or a screen recording, Kai says so in the draft and you can add it when posting manually.

How is Kai different from a scheduling tool?

A scheduler posts what you wrote. Kai writes it: from your articles, your customer calls and your numbers, in your voice, with hooks you can choose from. Approved posts can then be scheduled in Toby’s Calendar and published at that time.
