AI marketing for Shopify, built on your real orders

Connect your store with a read-only token and Toby's AI marketing team starts from what you actually sell: daily revenue, orders, products and baskets. Toby ranks the next move, Iris watches the numbers and Mia shapes ads around your best sellers, with the work already prepared.

What Toby does with Shopify

Exactly what the connector does today. Reads happen right away; anything that changes, publishes or sends something waits for your approval.

The agents who use it

What you get, concretely

Examples on fictional businesses, in the app's exact format. Numbers are examples, not promises: yours come from your own data.

Data analyst

Example

Orders fell 24% this week: check checkout before buying traffic

Why: Shopify: 112 orders in the last 7 days against 147 the week before, while GA4 visits are stable (−3%). Visitors still come, fewer of them buy, so the issue is more likely on the product page or at checkout than in acquisition.

Example estimate: getting back to last week's level is worth about +35 orders a week

First deliverable, ready to paste

Checks, in this order:
1. Shipping rates and delivery times: did anything change on the 21st?
2. Payment methods: is every method still active at checkout?
3. Out-of-stock variants on your three best sellers (Sencha 100 g, Genmaicha, the starter kit).
4. Discount codes running in emails or ads that may have expired.
Message for your developer or agency: Since the 21st, conversion has dropped while traffic is stable. Could you test a full checkout on mobile and desktop, with a card and with PayPal?

CMO

Example

Send a refill reminder 5 weeks after a first 100 g pouch

Why: Shopify, last 30 days: 61% of orders are first orders, and most of them are a single 100 g pouch. Customers who reorder do so about five weeks later, and nothing reminds them today.

Example estimate: 15 to 30 extra repeat orders a month

First deliverable, ready to paste

Email · sent 35 days after a first order containing a 100 g pouch
Subject: Your Sencha is probably running low
Body: If you brew a cup a day, your 100 g pouch has about a week left. Reorder now and it arrives before the last spoonful. Same tea, same harvest.

P.S. Want to try something new? Our Genmaicha is the favorite of Sencha lovers.

Meta Ads

Example

Build the next Meta campaign around the starter kit

Why: Shopify: the starter kit is in 34% of first orders and has the highest average order ($46 against $29). Your current ads promote the full range, so most clicks land on a page with 40 products.

Example estimate: 10–20% lower cost per first order at the same budget

First deliverable, ready to paste

Campaign: Starter kit · goal: purchases · audience: broad, 25–55, your country
Ad 1 · Hook: Three teas, one kettle, ten minutes a day.
Primary text: Not sure where to start with Japanese tea? The starter kit has three of our best sellers and a brewing guide. Free shipping.
Ad 2 · Hook: The most reordered thing in our shop.
Landing page: the starter kit product page, not the catalog.
You launch it in Ads Manager after approving: Toby never spends ad budget itself.

Connect Shopify

About 5 minutes

Your shop domain (my-shop.myshopify.com) and an Admin API access token from a custom app with read-only scopes.

  1. 1

In Shopify, create a custom app for your store and give it only two Admin API scopes: read_orders and read_products.

  2. 2

Install the app on your store and copy its Admin API access token.

  3. 3

In Toby, open Integrations, then Shopify → Connect.

  4. 4

Paste your shop domain and the token. The first sync starts right away, then runs every 6 hours.

  5. 5

Optional: choose which agents may use Shopify (Iris, Toby and Mia by default).

Good to know

  • Read-only by design. Toby cannot edit products, prices, discounts or store settings. Changes it recommends are made by you, or prepared as copy to paste.

  • The sync covers the last 30 days and reads up to 250 orders per run. Above that volume, the synced daily figures are partial; agents can still read orders in detail on demand.

  • Publishing to your Shopify blog is not part of this connector. It can be added through the universal API connector, with each article waiting for your approval.

  • Shopify Email and Klaviyo flows are prepared as copy and timing: you load them into your email tool yourself.

  • Revenue source. If Stripe is connected too, Toby uses Stripe for revenue and Shopify for orders, so sales are not counted twice.

Frequently asked questions

Can Toby change anything in my Shopify store?

No. The token only has read_orders and read_products, and the connector only has read actions. Toby reads orders and products to build its recommendations; any change to your store is made by you.

What exactly does Toby read?

Every 6 hours, the date, total and payment status of the last 30 days of orders, to compute daily revenue and orders. On demand, agents can list recent orders and your products to look at baskets, repeat purchases and best sellers.

Does it work with Shopify Plus or several stores?

Toby works company by company. If you run several stores with different brands, create one company per store: each gets its own Brand Brain, data and subscription.

Can Toby run my Shopify ads on Meta or Google?

Not directly today. Mia and Sam prepare campaign plans, audiences and ad copy from your Shopify data; you launch them in your ad accounts. Direct ad account connection comes after Meta's and Google's app reviews, and Toby never spends ad budget on its own, even on Autopilot.

Do I need Google Analytics too?

It is not required, but it helps a lot. Shopify tells Toby what sells; GA4 tells it where visitors come from and where they leave. Together, Iris can tell a traffic problem from a conversion problem.

Is my customer data safe?

The token is encrypted (AES-256-GCM) and never shown again, data is isolated per company, and you can disconnect the store at any time from Integrations. Toby only calls your store's own address.
